KUNIIE
(Yoshihara) Kuniie (1894-1970)
Kuniie's real name is Yoshihara Katsukichi. He was born in July 26,1894 in Ibaraki prefecture. He became a student of Kasama Shigetsugu at the Nihon Tanren Denshu Jo in 1932 (he graduated in the first class.). He instructed the smiths contracted by the Imperial army at Itabashi arsenal in Tokyo (1938), and was a Rikugun Jumei Tosho during WWII. The now well known Yoshindo Yoshihara and Kuniie (Shoji) are his grand sons. Their workmanship is based on the Bizen Ichimonji tradition.
