This late Edo period sword is very nicely made with great hataraki in the hamon and a very nice looking boshi. Hosokawa school swords were tempered in many different ways and the sugata of this sword and style would appear to be much older than late Edo. The hada is course in places as can be found in there work style. The hada has a nice milky appearance to is and is finely forged in places. The abundance of hataraki in the hamon and the shape and style of this sword add highly to its elegance foe such a later period sword.
