KANEYOSHI SENDAI SHODAI [KAN'EI 1624 RIKUZEN] SHINTÔ JÔSAKU

His original kuni is Washû, he is of the Monju Ha, and is called Abe Jinuemon.  He entered the Mon of shodai Kunikane, and his works are of the style of shodai Kunikane, but there are some without masame hada.

This long sendai kaneyoshi daito is really an excellent quality sword.  The overall condition, shape and polish makes this sword very pleasing to view in hand.  The hamon is loaded with many hataraki (activity).  The masame hada is very tightly made and is beautifully forged.  It is clear that the quality of this long daito is very high.

DETAILS

KOSHIRAI
This set of koshirai that accompany the kaneyoshi are original to the sword and not put together mounts.  The fittings are matching and the saya lacquer is in excellent shape  for its age.  The original handle wrap is apparently signed for under the fuchi.

PAPERS
NBTHK hozon-kai attributing this sword to Sendai Kaneyoshi.  It is presumed that it has been attributed to the first generation kaneyoshi because the papers do not say "sendai kaneyoshi ko-dai"  or "later generation".  The first generation is was rated as Jo-saku (high) level in Fujishiro shinto book.
