This 29" long koto sword is attributed to Kagemitsu from the 15th century. He is of the Sanekage line, said to be in the Hashizume Ha, has excellent sugata, hamon is ko-gonome based in sugu-ha, and brings to mind Yoshii of Bizen. There are occasionally instances when he is taken as a later generation of Bizen Kagemitsu. There is a swordsmith among the sons of Kagemitsu who signed "Kashû Jû Fujiwara Kagemitsu", and this smith is probably his successor. From the Mino Gokkaden The kashu school flourished in Kaga province. It was there that a castle town was built by Maeda Toshiie who was one of Oda Nobunaga's retainers. It was in koto times that the fujishima school started to produce swords in this area. The three schools of note from that area was the Darani, the kiyomitsu and the kaga seki. This sword has a very beautiful sugata and is ubu mumei with an attribution to kagemitsu. Their tradition flourished. The hada is composed of a mokume with masame and ji-nie that jumps off the blade. The hamon is based in sugu-ha with much activity. The hamon is just layered hataraki. The boshi is ko-maru. The koshirae is of very high quality and the motif is of Shi-Shi.
