MOROKAGE ÔMIYA [ÔEI 1394 BIZEN] CHÛKOTÔ CHÛJÔSAKU

He is the son of Ômiya Morikage, and he has the name of Ômiya Bizen.  His works are largely ko-wakizashi and tantô.  Ji is ô-mokume, hamon is gonome choji or suguba.

Signature:              BISHÛ OSAFUNE MORIKAGE

A beautiful and unique example of the Bizen Osafune school this katana has a rare example of Marudome Bohi horimono still intact with a trace of Soe-hi. The Osafune school which was one of the most prosperous for a very long period in koto times was located along the lower reaches of the Yoshii river. This sword can be classified as originating from the Oei-Bizen school. This sword also features the classic Bizen sugata and still retains a partial signature confirming its Bizen Osafune roots. The hada is a swirling mokume very well done and ji-nie abounds!! The hamon is a Gunome midare which is loaded with activity which can be seen in the pictures. a very well made sword from the early 15th century, sure to be appreciated!!
