The Yoshii group is not like the average Bizen smiths. There work was unorthodox and unique. A rare sword making school to find generally. This sword has a few things that are very good. it is from the Koto period (1469), is not cut down at all but is in original size and shape with a signature, and comes from an interesting group of smiths. The hamon on this katana is Suguba in nio-deki. The hamon is very sound for such an old sword. The hada is a very well forged itame that has not flaws in it. The hada has a pleasant milky aperience and a little scattered mokume hada can be seen in places. The real beauty is in the Utsuri that can be seen on this sword. It is very clear and with the fine hada makes for a pleasant aperience on the Ji of this blade. This is a fine example of a Koto Katana that is ubu. No flaws on this old sword are visible.
