This katana is attributed to Uda school of the 16th century.  Uda school originated in Yamato province and was founded by Kunimitsu.  His son Kunifusa learned under Norishige that produced a different style of jitetsu by mixing hard and soft iron.  This is called matsukawa-hada or norishige-hada.  The hada on these swords is generally course in areas and is typical of the Uda school.

This katana has a very well made hamon with many hataraki.  For such an old sword the hamon is wide and beautiful to look at.  The hada is typical of the Uda school with some course areas and it has a milky appearance to it that is pleasing to the eye.  The sword is in good polish with some minor scuffing.  An interest aspect of this sword is that on the mune it has one sword strike adding to the swords history because of its usage when carried.
