Bizen Nagamitsu (fss-652)

This is a sword made by the well known swordsmith Nagamitsu. Details on Nagamitsu can be found below. It is in good condition and is well made. Nagamitsu made traditional hand forged blades like this one. The hada is very clean and appears like silk. The polish on this sword is older and should be refinished to make the details of the sword more prevelant. The hamon is very good, as many hataraki can be seen. This is a very sound and healthy sword. The saya is new and in excellent shape, the handle appears to be restored and rewrapped in recent times. The copper fuchi, kashira and menuki are not modern but are antique. The tsuba looks to be mid to late edo probably from around the 1700’s. This sword may have been restored and mounted for iaido training . These mounts are very sound and usable. This katana looks and feels better in hand and has a very good balance. A super sword for the sword enthusiast or those looking for Nagamitsu blades!
